What Happens When the Wrong Care Keeps You Stuck

You Keep Getting the Same Generic Advice

Rest, ice, and a handful of exercises you found online aren't solving the problem. Without identifying the root cause, the pain keeps coming back every training cycle.

You See an Aide, Not a Doctor

At most PT clinics, you spend more time with a tech than with your therapist. Cookie-cutter protocols and rushed appointments don't move the needle for active adults with real performance goals.

You're Told to Stop With No Plan to Restart,

Being told to stop running, lifting, or playing without a structured path back isn't care, it's a dead end. You deserve a provider who keeps you in the game while your body heals.

Common Conditions We Treat

Analyze

Every plan starts with a full movement assessment. Dr. Brooke digs into your history, how you move, and what's actually driving the problem, not just where it hurts. You leave the first visit with a clear picture of the root cause and a plan built around your goals.

adapt

Once the root cause is identified, the work begins. Dr. Brooke introduces progressive strength training designed to promote tissue adaptation, building the capacity your body needs to handle the demands of running, training, and competition without breaking down.

I worked virtually with Brooke on both plantar fasciitis and hip/periformis pain. She is knowledgeable, helpful, and individualized. I enjoyed the ongoing feedback and achieved pain free feet in 3 months before switching to the hip for a month to get it under control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Active adults and athletes in St. Augustine ask us these questions most often, here's what you need to know before booking.

I'm not a runner, is this clinic right for me?

Absolutely. First Coast Running Medicine treats runners, field and court athletes, weightlifters, and active adults of all kinds. If you move and you want to keep moving, we can help. The name reflects our niche expertise, not a limit on who we see.

Do I have to stop working out during PT?

The goal is to keep you as active as possible throughout your care. Dr. Brooke will work with your training schedule and modify activity where clinically appropriate, not shut everything down. Most patients continue some version of their training from day one.

Why is this cash-based?

One-on-one, doctorate-level care every session takes time and focus that insurance-driven PT simply can't accommodate. You always see Dr. Brooke, not an aide or assistant and your plan is built specifically for you. We also accept HSA/FSA, and superbills are available upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

What does an initial evaluation look like?

Your first session with Dr. Brooke is a thorough one-on-one evaluation a detailed history, full movement assessment, and root cause analysis. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what's going on and a personalized plan to address it.

How long until I notice improvement?

That depends on your specific injury, history, and goals. What we can tell you is that many patients notice meaningful improvement in their activity and pain levels over the course of their individualized plan. Dr. Brooke will give you honest, realistic expectations from the start.
